my scrap philosophy

I scrap for me. I would love to do every page and look at it saying "wow, I'm proud of that"...but sometimes pages get done and are just okay.....that's okay! I don't have perfect days everyday, I'm not a perfect mom all the time, and perfect wife...LOL, let's just say I'm no June Cleaver ;) And those last 10 pounds I lost keep finding their way back...life isn't perfect, and neither is every scrapbook page :)

Polkadot Door Designs October Blog Hop and Inspiration Challenge

I am so excited to be a part of
...not only as a guest designer (yikes!  I hope I do okay!), but I am also a sponsor!!!  (stay tuned for the details of the prize I have donated, at the bottom of this post ;))

Here is the inspiration:

What immediately inspired me were the clouds...I love clouds!  I have been wanting to try a mixed media canvas for SO long, so I decided to do one for this project...MY FIRST EVER CANVAS :)  I used a tutorial from Christy Tomlinson, whom I've always admired (from "she art" fame).  This was fun, and I learned a lot (A LOT, what dries fast, what doesn't dry at all, for example, after 3 days of drying, you can still see the glue under the buttons still hasn't dried!  Let glue dry before you Mod Podge over things ;)  And a big one:  paint fast over the first layer and "scrape" the paint off quicker!).  But crafting is all about learning, and I am a permanant student LOL...can't wait to improve on myself and do another, and another :)

Here is the list of designers on the hop:

Polkadot Door Designs < details on how to join the challenge and be eligible for this month's great prizes.

sponsors:

$20 shop gift certificate for the Challenge winner

prize package of their gorgeous items to the bloghop winner

and me:

I am providing a full kit for the featured designer.

About my kits:  Currently in my shop, I have my "doodad" kits - embellishment kits made up of "non-traditional" scrapbooking items, which include new items, ephemera, and vintage findings.  Starting (hopefully) this month, I am going to have new kits that include "traditional" scrapbooking paper and embellishments, mixed with my "doodads".  I am still waiting on one suppliers' products (I ordered right when they were filling their summer CHA orders, so they got behind).  So I made a kit up from the supplies I had - this is a one of a kind, Polkadot Door Designs exclusive kit :)  It includes my doodads:  ribbon, buttons, non-traditional scrappy embellies, vintage findings and ephemera.  It also includes traditional scrappy items:  8 pieces of patterned paper, 2 pieces each of 4 different colored cardstock, alphas, and embellishment.

This one includes items from Pink Paislee, American Crafts (Amy Tangerine!), and Studio Calico, and is valued at $23.00.

Here's detail of the paper, the bottom strip is to show the other side of the printed paper, their are 8 double sided pieces:

If you follow me on facebook (link on the right hand side of my blog), I will keep you posted of when I list my new kits :)  If I get enough followers, I'll have a giveaway there :)

Thanks for joining the hop!!!

The canvas is so clever. I mostly never think of creating on canvas, but it's such a good idea!
