my scrap philosophy

I scrap for me. I would love to do every page and look at it saying "wow, I'm proud of that"...but sometimes pages get done and are just okay.....that's okay! I don't have perfect days everyday, I'm not a perfect mom all the time, and perfect wife...LOL, let's just say I'm no June Cleaver ;) And those last 10 pounds I lost keep finding their way back...life isn't perfect, and neither is every scrapbook page :)

Birthday Blog Hop!

If It's Groovy is 3 years old!  We have a little blog hop to celebrate today and we hope you will enjoy as you make your way through each of The Groovy Chick's blogs showing projects made using the letters out of the word Birthday.

My letter from BIRTHDAY is R

I decided to make a Rosette, and place it on a birthday card.  I made a super simple card, added the rosette, with a birthday embellishment in the middle, and I have a fun card to give.  I am still new to making these, and I learn with each one :)  I probably should have used a longer piece of paper with this, but that's the fun of learning...you learn as you go, and the next one is better :)

During the holidays I had a part-time job at Bloomingdales - fun, but I worked a little more than part-time and did not have any free time to scrap, so the only other R project I did was as a challenge in my facebook group...re-organize your scrap space.  I didn't re-organize as much as I re-newed, or re-freshed it.  Bought a couple of new organizers, and moved just a couple of things...I don't know about you, but the more I am in my room, I realize what I need closer, what I need "together", etc.  Anyway, I did my first video and uploaded it to youtube (a first for me).  All of my furniture is re-cycled ;)

TFL! Now it is time to go by and visit  Heather with the letter "T"

Your rosette and card are great and I really enjoyed your video! I found a few new ideas and love the feel of your space. I also love the look of your rosette being spread out a little.

Since you enjoy altering, you might enjoy the look of a rosette made by using a crimper instead of scoring and folding. It is not an exact science because the folds from the crimper are a loose interpretation, but it has a great shabby look. Here's a link to a video tutorial on Fiskateers.

Have fun!

Great rosette. I love making them. Since you said you are new at it, I will give you a couple of hints. Being the Fiskateer that I am, I have found that using most of the Fiskars border punches make beautiful rosettes - just make accordian like folds right along the design with most of them. Or, a really quick way is to put it through the Fiskars paper crimper. Takes all of the work out of needing to score or fold. I love your craft area! Great that it is so big and so organized. You were lucky your daughter thinks her furniture is too "juvenile" and what great finds out of the dumpsters! Good for you for doing such a fantastic job reorganizing!

The rosette is so cute! I like that you used a shorter strip - having fewer pleats makes it unique and more flower-like! ~ Blessings
